Dubai, August 2025 — UAE’s leading retail cooperative, Union Coop, posted great half-yearly performance with a 6.4% growth in net profit in the first half of 2025. The cooperative achieved AED 173.6 million net profit compared to AED 163.14 million in the first half of 2024.
The company’s overall top line achieved AED 1.16 billion with steady sales performance across all retail, real estate, and service businesses. Profit before tax also increased to AED 192 million, which is a testament of the good operational efficiency and cost control measure adopted by Union Coop.
Q2 2025 is in focus, and this reveals even greater momentum as net profit increases by 13% year-on-year. This has been boosted by expansion in physical as well as online retailing businesses. Union Coop recorded new customers’ increase of 30% along with a 24% increase in online purchases, revealing the success of its digital strategy.
For ease of customer experience, the retailer also launched Scan&Go facilities in two stores and increased Check&Go centers to seven. The innovations are intended to make shopping easier and save time at the checkout, which resonates with changing consumer sentiments.
Growth-wise, Union Coop constructed a new mall and three stores in Al Khawaneej, Nad Al Sheba, and Rukan Community. The stores were constructed according to modern standards, expanding the company’s focus on increasing access as well as penetrating markets.
Union Coop also recorded a notable improvement in staff development with an Emiratisation of 35. The retailer has a aggregate of 80 National Service staff working in 13 branches and supported gender diversity with an increase of 721 women associates, reiterating its commitment to community engagement and inclusivity.
